Tourists will have more opportunities to explore Hanoi's Old Quarter in a more environmentally friendly way with the launch of five new tours that use electric cars.
The new tours of Vietnam travel companies, which were launched on January 11, will take foreign and domestic tourists along 28 traditional trade streets in the Old Quarter to see historical sites, vestiges and old architecture and have a fresh insight into the cultural life of residents as well as handicraft artisans.
Electric cars have been used for such tours in the Old Quarter since 2010. They have served many tourists, with 30 percent being foreigners, according to Do Xuan Thuy, director of the Dong Xuan Company, which operates Old Quarter tours and services.
