The central Vietnam city of Da Nang has been holding an international fireworks competition since 2008. As this year marks the 40th anniversary of both the liberation of Da Nang City and the re-unification of Vietnam… 2015’s competition is expected to be the most exciting to date!
Essential Details About the Fireworks
There will be five teams (countries) partaking in the competition, which will be taking place April 28 & 29 along Da Nang’s Han River. Ticketed stands will be set up along Tran Hung Dao street, though spectators will be watching from the streets, restaurant-fronts and hotel rooftops all over the city.
Vietnam, Australia, the United States of America, Poland and South Africa will be boasting their top pyrotechnic teams to bring this year’s “Symphony of Colors” theme to life. The event kicks off April 28th at 16:30 with a guests welcoming, followed by music, a VIP welcoming and opening ceremonies. The first fireworks display will start at 20:35 with South Africa followed by the USA and wrapping up with Vietnam. Day Two’s displays start at 20:20 with South Africa and Poland at 20:55. Awards will be presented at 21:30 that same evening.
How Many People Are Expected?
An expected 500,000 guests will be attending the fireworks competition this year with hotels, resorts and guesthouses almost fully booked out between Da Nang and Hoi An. Guests will be pouring in from all over the country for not only the displays, but also the art and musical performances, photo exhibitions, water sports and much more. Organized by the People’s Committee and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, this internationally acclaimed competition helps promote Da Nang as one of the country’s biggest growing tourist destinations.
Who Is Covering the Fireworks?
For those who cannot make it to Da Nang (or perhaps waited too long to book!) you can always watch the excitement live on television! The fireworks displays will be televised on a number of internationally acclaimed providers, including (but not limited to) StarWorld, NatGeo, BBC World Asia as well as DRT and VTV Da Nang.
How to Prepare for the Fireworks
Guests looking to watch the fireworks in Da Nang are strongly advised to book their accommodation ahead of time. Many resorts and hotels are fully booked out a year in advanced for the exciting performances, so finding accommodation before you visit is essential! For those who were not fortunate enough to buy tickets in the stands along the Han River, many hotels, restaurants and cafes will be offering excellent deals that evening for food, drinks and special seating.
