According to organisers of International Travel Expo in Ho Chi Minh City (ITE HCMC), HCMC will focus on outbound tourism in 2012. It is expected that 100 outbound tours managers from four countries will be invited to join this year’s event to be held from September 13th to September 15th in HCMC. “Four nations - one destination” involving Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar will be a main topic of the expo.
Instead of activities for people to buy international products to discover four nations’ tourism, various meetings between buyers and sellers of outbound tours and several introductions for this kind of tourism will be organised.
In HCMC, outbound tourism is strongly developing. According to HCMC Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, 900 thousands out of two million of travellers from HCMC and its neighbouring areas go abroad.
Also, numerous activities to invite international tourism agencies to discover four countries’ tourism started. It is expected that about 200 representatives of international tourism agencies to join this year’s event, increasing 40 people compared to last year. In addition, HCMC will improve its promotion to four potential markets, including Korea, England, India and Ukraine.
The annual international travel expo in HCMC is held by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, VNEXAD and IIR Exhibitions, including various activities such as meeting between Vietnam travel agencies and international tourism agencies, conferences of ministry of tourism, ASEAN fashion week.
