In 2011, Hanoi received nearly 1.9 million international tourists, an increase of 11 percent against the last year, according to a report of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Considerably, the number of foreign tourists from some major markets to Hanoi went up compared to the same period last year, including China (19 per cent), Australia (28 per cent) and the Republic of Korea (22 per cent). In addition, Hanoi also served 11.66 million domestic visitors, up by 10 per cent against 2010.This is the good news for Vietnam travel companies.
In 2012, the Hanoi tourism sector will finalise a tourism development project for 2020 with a vision to 2030, plan to enlarge more streets in Hoan Kiem District for pedestrians, hold the International Tourism Exhibition Hanoi 2011, host the 11th Conference of the Council for Promotion of Tourism in Asia (CPTA), and install large tourism billboards at Highways 1, 3, 5 and 32, to name a few.
