For the first time, 38 artists of Son La group on Wednesday displayed their works in Vietnamese-style lacquer at Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, 66 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street in Hanoi.
The experienced artists have their own styles and views on art. They team together to exchange, share skills and passion to create good artworks to promote Vietnamese lacquer which is a very special material. With the method of painting with many layers then sharpening and polishing, highlighting parts of egg shells, colors, silver and gold, Vietnamese lacquer brings to artists many effects to express their ideas on the painting.
Using the traditional material, Vietnamese paint, the artists make their own creations in different styles: traditional or modern. However, the most common feature is their desire to preserve and develop this art form – lacquer painting which has been passed down the centuries. The show runs until Wednesday.
