The Vietnamese Embassy, in coordination with the France-Vietnam Friendship Organisation, on January 13 held a conference on tourism promotion in Paris to strengthen Vietnam-France co-operation in the sector.
The conference saw the participation of flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, Air France and many tourism businesses.
At the conference, reports of tourism potential and achievements were delivered. Some attractive destinations of Vietnam and a documentary film were also introduced to French friends, providing them with deeper understanding about the nation and people of Vietnam.
Dao Ngoc Anh, an expert from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, said France has been an important market since the 1990s and in 2011, Vietnam welcomed some 200,000 French tourists.
Many programmes on tourism promotion were also launched in France and Western Europe, such as tourism fairs, experience sharing between Vietnam travel agency and France and visits of Vietnamese businesses to French and Europe markets, he said.
