A seminar on tourism development co-ordination among central coastal provinces was held in Tuy Hoa city in the south-central province of Phu Yen on December 19.
This was one of activities marking the National Tourism Year.
Seven central coastal provinces including Thua Thien-Hue, Danang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa occupy one third of the national coastal landscape.
The region is widely known for such world-famous cultural heritage sites recognized by UNESCO as the Ancient Hue relics complex, Hue Royal Court Music, Hoi An ancient street and My Son Relic compound.
However, the region’s tourism industry only makes up 6 percent of the country’s GDP, and some Vietnam travel agencies here are not yet to match its potential.
The closing ceremony of the National Tourism Year will take place in Tuy Hoa on the evening of December 19. The 2012 National Tourism Year will be launched in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue.
