The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines (VNA) said on December 8, the carrier will officially launch a direct flight from Hanoi city and Ho Chi MinH City to the United Kingdom. In addition, the airlines will target the opening of direct flight to the US for next year.
With the direct flight to the UK, VNA will have 36 international flight routes.
Recently, Air Mekong has kicked off the operation of four local flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc, Con Dao, Quy Nhon and Pleiku. Currently, the carrier has more than 15 domestic flight routes.
The Vietnam Civil Aviation Administration forecast in 2011, airlines will carry about 17.5 million passengers, an increase of nearly 21 percent from 2010. The launch of new flight routes is a new development in airline strategy and Vietnam travel agency since air travel is forecast to develop strongly in the near future.
