On March 1, Da Nang Department of culture, sports and tourism reported 240 foreign artists and 39 Vietnamese sculptors sent their works to take part in the international rock sculpture camp 2013 in Da Nang that will occur in the first quarter of 2013.
According to the plan, the international rock sculpture camp will last 3 weeks. Da Nang city is responsible for hosting the final round with the topic: “Da Nang – a place for continuing the legacy path”. Works attending the camp must come from authors working in the field of sculpture (no limit to age and nationality) and must have never been published.
After the preliminary round, the judges will choose about 20 rock sculptures to go to the final round. The authors chosen will go to Da Nang and directly create their works. Each author going to the final round will be received a certificate to attend the camp and subsidized about 50 million dong after completing their work.
During the international rock sculpture camp, there will be many activities such as: introducing Ngu Hanh Son cultural park and statues garden to visitors; the rock sculpture conference; Non Nuoc rock exhibition….
The estimated cost of the camp is about 12 billion dong. Da Nang city sponsors 3 billion dong, and the rest is from socialization fund. After finishing the camp, Da Nang city People’s Committee will select 15 works to display in Ngu Hanh Son cultural park and in the major intersection of the city or to sell at auction…
