The Vietnamese embassy and the Vietnamese Culture Centre in France co-launched an event on October 29 to vote for Ha Long Bay as one the new seven natural wonders of the world.
Embassy staff, Vietnamese representative agencies in France, overseas Vietnamese, Vietnam travel agencies and Vietnamese students in France attended the event.
“Ha Long Bay, Vietnam’s unique natural masterpiece, which has been recognized by UNESCO twice as world natural heritage, has always been our national pride,” said Vietnamese ambassador to France Luong Chi Dung.
Ambassador Dung expressed his hope that the Vietnamese community in France and French friends will continue voting for Ha Long Bay to promote the Bay and Vietnam to the world.
Director of the France-based Vietnamese Culture Centre Le Hong Chuong said his centre has coordinated with the Vietnamese embassy and other agencies and associations to encourage voting for Ha Long Bay by issuing literature and updating information about the bay on the websites of various organizations.
At the voting meeting, members of the Vietnamese Culture Centre provided detailed instructions on ways to vote for Ha Long Bay through the internet on computers at the centre.
Nguyen Anh Minh, a Vietnamese student living in Rennes, said that he missed Vietnam very much and was keen to participate in the voting.
