Vietnam led the number of visitors to Cambodia last year with nearly 600,000 tourists, followed by the Republic of Korea (330,000), China (240,000), Japan (120,000) and the US (110,000).
Ang Kim Eang, President of the Cambodia Association of Travel Agents (CATA), said most visitors to the country want to visit the ruins of World Cultural Heritage Angkor Wat relic complex in Siem Reap province.
120 hotels around the site were fully booked during the Lunar New Year festival, as most Vietnamese tourists flocked there.
Moreover, some Cambodian beaches, especially in Sihanoukville which has been recognized as among the world’s most beautiful beaches, also attracted large numbers of foreign visitors.
This is really good news for Vietnam travel companies as well as Cambodia.
