The Ba Ria-Vung Tau Urban Development and Sewerage Company (Busadco) and the Vung Tau City People’s Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Vung Tau Tourism Market yesterday in Thang Tam Ward, Vung Tau City.
The 36,760m2 market will include a 500-car parking area, an exhibition hall, and a shopping mall with 564 retail spaces, a food court and an entertainment area.
Speaking at the groundbreaking, Tran Van Thong, director of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said Vung Tau Tourism Market will give Bach beach (Thuy Van beach) a facelift to promote tourism, especially night-life, and encourage more tourist spending.
The market will be built in three phases with total investment capital of VND25 billion (US$1.12 million). The first phase is scheduled to be completed before the 2012 Lunar Year.
Vietnam travel agencies see that Vung Tau be a potential tourism city so they invest more and more in this city.
