The 5th Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2013 organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Quang Nam People's Committee and the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO will take place from June 21-26 in Hoi An.
Head of the organization board, Quang Nam People’s Committee Deputy Chairman Tran Minh Ca said that: “The Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2013 will include numerous promotion activities to honor Vietnamese culture and local specific characteristics. The festival will be a venue to share experiences in terms of heritage preservation among ASEAN countries and Vietnamese localities.”
The most outstanding activity in the festival will be “ASEAN Cultural Heritage Space” exhibition on June 21 in Hoi An. The exhibition includes 16 old houses in order to introduce local specific characteristics in Vietnamese culture and the most vivid images of national heritages in the Southeast Asia region.
It is expected to see 200 artists and actors from ASEAN countries, the Republic of Korea, Japan and 20 Vietnamese localities to perform traditional art activities.
In addition to “ASEAN Cultural Heritage Space” exhibition, another main activity in the festival includes the 3rd International Choir Competition taking place from June 19-22 at the Agribank Hoi An Beach Resort. In particular, international choir groups will perform street art shows. Moreover, the final round of the Miss Ethnic Vietnam 2013 will be seen as a prominent characteristic in the Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2013.
Together with these outstanding activities, the Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2013 will include interesting cultural and sporting activities, such as Cham Cultural Festive Day, the national beach volleyball competition, the Quang Nam Heritage Festival golf tournament and a handicraft and fine art exhibition.
The organization board said that on this occasion, Quang Nam Province will launch and introduce to the tourist agencies, domestic and foreign tourists about new tourism products, such as a tourist program focusing on visiting old battlefields in order to exploit full potential of the historic sites associated the Vietnamese Revolution; visiting Zora traditional weaving village and Grang Falls (Nam Giang District); learning about the lives of ethnic minorities in the Bhohoong and Dhoroong villages (Dong Giang District); and finding out about the Cu Lao Cham World Biosphere Reserve. To attract home and international tourists to Quang Nam Province, during the Quang Nam Heritage Festival, Hoi An Ancient Town and My Son Sanctuary will be freely opened for tourists.
Tran Minh Ca said that in addition to honoring Vietnamese culture and local specific characteristics and advertising the images of Quang Nam Province and the country to international countries in order to promote the development of tourism and attract investment, the Quang Nam Heritage Festival would mark the 10th anniversary of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
