Spanish support for Vietnam tourism

An agreement on tourism funded by the Spanish Government has been signed between Deputy Minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism Ho Anh Tuan and Spanish Ambassador to Vietnam Fernando Curcio Ruigómez in Hanoi on Nov. 29th.

Under the agreement, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation will assist Vietnam with 400,000 EUR to enhance the local tourism sector under the tourism development strategy for the 2011-2020 period, with a view to 2030. The project will be focused on policies with social responsibility in Lao Cai, Dien Bien and Ha Giang provinces.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Spanish Ambassador to Vietnam Fernando Curcio Ruigómez said that since 2002, Spain has assisted the development of the Vietnam tourism sector. The assistance was visible through 15 non-refundable projects, such as making tourism law knowledge more widespread, building a marketing strategy for Vietnam tourism and creating a scheme for tourism in Cat Ba Island.

On the behalf of the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism, Deputy Minister Ho Anh Tuan expressed sincere thanks to the Spanish Government and highly appreciated the assistance of the Spanish Government to the Vietnam travel agency over the past few years.

The deputy minister affirmed that the effective implementation of the project will contribute to diversifying tourist products in a sustainable manner, preserving and effectively exploring the values of Vietnam’s landscapes such as tourism with responsibility, sea tourism, eco-tourism and cultural tourism.
