The Southern Fruit Festival 2013 will co-organised from June 1 - 12 in the Suoi Tien tourist site by the Ho Chi Minh city Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism and the city’s Association of Tourism.The Southern Fruit Festival, which debuted in 2004, has become a popular cultural tourism activity honouring the agricultural values of the southern region in particular and Vietnam in general.
The event will have 50 booths from 21 provinces of cities in the Southern region and neighbouring regions. The booths will display, introduce and sell different kinds of specialty fruits such as Vinh Long grapefruit, Long An blue dragon fruit, Luc Ngan litchi, Cai Mon Ben Tre durian, Binh Duong mulberry, Sa Dec star apple, Hoa Loc sweet mango, Tien Giang longan, Binh Phuoc papaya, Tan Trieu Bien Hoa grapefruit, Lai Thieu mangosteen, Sapa peach and Lang Son plum.
This year’s festival will feature new varieties of fruits, including Vinh Hao grapes, Vinh Kim Tien Giang sweet orange, Vinh Kim Tien Giang seedless guava, Dang Van Ro green-skin grape fruit, Vacdona Long Thanh red jackfruit, and Hoang Kim melon from Hau River Farm.
The festival will have the fourth southern delicious and safe fruit competition, the opening ceremony and a fruit parade, fruit-depicting graphic arts and fruit gastronomy art.
