If the current growth rate remains steady Vietnam’s tourism sector is expected to greet the six-millionth international tourist at the end of December, 2011, reported the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).
According to VNAT, during the remaining months of 2011, Vietnam’s tourism sector will not only reach its target on the number of both domestic and foreign tourists but also has seen improvements in the quality of service with many positive responses. The Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism is urgently completing new targets for national tourism in 2012.
Previously, statistics showed that Vietnam travel agencies welcomed more than 5.4 million foreign tourists in the first eleven months of 2011 while the sector set the yearly target of receiving 5.3-5.5 million arrivals. The eleven-month figure marked a 17.8 percent increase compared to the same period last year. In particular, the number of tourists from almost all countries and territories rose. China continued to lead with more than 1.2 million arrivals, a 49 percent increase by the end of November 2011.
If nothing changes, a celebration to mark the arrival of six million international visitors will be held in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province.
