The Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee has just passed a project to build a wireless internet system in the central tourist City of Hoi An.
The project, which will cost some VND 20billion is aimed to cover the tourist city with wifi internet.
The Information and Communication Department is entrusted to implement the project. Accordingly, 350 internet transmitters, related-technical infrastructure and a management centre will be built across the city between now to 2012.
According to local officials, after the project has been accomplished, tourists can easily access the internet.
“The network will help tourists find needed and useful travel information on one hand, and via the network the Vietnam travel agency can further promote its image, open many tours and attract more tourists on the other hand,” said a local official.
According to the Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee, the costs of operation, management and maintenance of the network will be paid for by the Provincial budget and tourists will use the internet for free.
