Tra Co – the longest beach

Being 17 kilometers in length and about 170 hectares in annular area, Tra Co beach belonging to Mong Cai city, Quang Ninh province is the longest beach in Vietnam. In addition, Tra Co is known as the first beach of Vietnam, the most romantic beach and one of the most beautiful beaches.

Tam Giang – the largest lagoon

With the surface area of 21,600 hectares, accounting for 48.2% the total surface area of lagoons in Vietnam, Tam Giang – Cau Hai (belonging to Thua Thien – Hue province) is the largest and the most typical lagoon in Vietnam, as well as the largest lagoon in the Southeast Asia.

Visiting Tam Giang, you can take a boat to travel around, see the landscape changing each time of a day and sip delicious seafood. After that, you can go to Thai Duong Ha fishing village and explore ancient cultural values or the origin of the name “the tomb city” of the village.

Cat Ba island – the island including most isles

Located in the south of Ha Long bay and off the coast of Hai Phong and Quang Ninh provinces, Cat Ba island consists of 367 large and small islands. Cat Ba, also known as the pearl island, is the largest island in total 1,969 islands in Ha Long bay. According to the legend, the name of “Cat Ba” is also called “Cac Ba” because at one time many women here were responsible for logistical problems in order that men fought the enemy in the surrounding island (“Cac Ong” island).

Cat Ba is a stunning and charming island. In the island, there are many beautiful places to visit and explore. However, the highlight of the island is the sea tour services or the adventures of exploring the jungle.

Hon Khoai – the nearest island to the equator

Hon Khoai (its old name is Giang Huong) ,the group of isles in Ca Mau province, is 14.6 kilometers far from the mainland. It lies in the southwest of Nam Can town in Ngoc Hien district. This name has the origin from its shape being like a huge potato.

The group of islands consists of 5 adjacent islands: Hon Khoai, Hon Doi Moi, Hon Da Le, Hon Tuong with the total area of 4 square kilometers. Being located in the lowest latitudes compared to the mainland and lying among the sea in the continental shelf, the island’s climate is hot all year round with the high rainfall.

Phu Quoc – the largest island

Phu Quoc island is the largest island in 38 islands in Phu Quoc, Kien Giang. The triangular shape island is 50 kilometers long from north to south, and 27 kilometers long from east to west.

There are two ways to go to the island: going by boat and going by plane. The island attracts many domestic and international tourists because of the beautiful beaches and charming places. Besides, the factories of fish sauce, Sim wine and pearl are unique destinations here.

Ly Son – the island with the highest population density

Ly Son district consists of Ly Son island (alternative name of Cu Lao Re) and Hòn Mu Cu lying off the coast of Quang Ngai province, 45 kilometers far from Quang Ngai city. With the population density of 1,888 people per square kilometer, the district has the highest population density in 12 island districts in Vietnam.
