Geography

Area: 6,883.4 sq. km.

Population: 809.5 thousand habitants (2006)

Capital: Dong Xoai Town.

Districts: Dong Phu, Phuoc Long, Loc Ninh, Bu Dang, Chon Thanh, Bu Dop, Chon Thanh.

Binh Phuoc is on south of Vietnam. It is surrounded by Cambodia on the north and north-west, Dak Nong and Lam Dong provinces on the east, Dong Nai and Binh Duong provinces on the south and Tay Ninh Province on the west. Binh Phuoc has plenty of forests. The bazan land is convenient for industrial trees such as rubber, coffee, cashew nut, and pepper. The main rivers are Saigon, Be, and Dong Nai.

Climate
There are no cold winters. The annual average temperature is 27ºC. The rainy season lasts from May to October and the dry season lasts from November to April next year. The annual average rainfall is 2,110mm.

Transportation

Transportation is mainly by road. The National Highway No.13 links to Ho Chi Minh City, Chon Thanh, An Loc, Loc Ninh districts then Hoa Lu border gate crossing which to Cambodia. The National Highway No.14 connects Chon Thanh with Dong Xoai Town then Gia Nghia, Buon Ma Thuot.

Dong Xoai Town is 128km from Ho Chi Minh City, 119km from Gia Nghia (Dak Nong), 244km from Buon Ma Thuot.

Ba Ra Mountain

Location: In Phuoc Long District, Binh Phuoc Province, 180 km from Ho Chi Minh City.

Characteristics: Ba Ra Mountain is a beautiful spot. The high mountain top with luxurious and dense trees stretches out from a low area of hills.

Ba Ra is a place name closely connected to the heroic resistance of Phuoc Long's people. There is a very solemn monument commemorating the fighters who sacrificed their lives in the region. At the mountain's foot, near the townlet of Thac Mo, are the varied vestiges of Ba Ra Prison, where numerous Vietnamese revolutionary fighters were detained by the French.

Ba Ra, as imposing as Ba Den Mountain in Tay Ninh Province, offers an incredible panoramic view from its peak. Around Ba Ra, there are many interesting sites to visit.
